Symbolic Move. riiight.

SAJC has officially moved to Potong Pasir. The campus is so pretty but the band room basically sucks. It's small and has bloody mirrors on one side! Like WTH. We don't need to see ourselves play, for crying out loud. We're not ballerinas! We were saying maybe the builders thought it was the Dance Studio (which apparently according to Angeline is half its original size) and realised their mistake too late =) anyway you get the point. It's just terrible.

Arranged to meet Rochelle at 10am so we would have plenty of time to get to SAJC but guess what time she came? Not 10.15, not even 10.30 but TEN-FIFTY! I, the queen of lateness, was actually punctual! I ran for my bus! She owes me a drink but I let her off the hook cos she and Angeline kindly waited for me for my bus. It wasn't any use reaching so early though cos when we got there the runner still hadn't reached yet and we had to wait a while longer. Watched the band play. It was sweltering, dunno how they tolerated the heat. Rochelle and I hurried back to the shade after about 20 mins in the sun. Socialised with the rest of the bandies while purposely ignoring the various speeches esp by She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named-out-of-fear-that-they-will-sue-me-for-defamation/slander/whatever unknown reasons. Can you imagine Lord Voldemort having such a long title? After the ceremony (which wasn't as glam as I thought it'd be) I went to see the band room and to eat tauhui with Munchkin, Angeline, Roch and Christabel. Then rode 985, which took eons and eons to come, to Accent to buy reeds cos I can't play with Zonda and the whole band's using that now. 2 reeds cost me 10 bucks! My pocket hurts.

Sat on 61 to go home. That took me about 2 hours. Watched TV and slept. Ah sleep is goooood.

Actually I'm just hiding my jealousy with all the complaints. I'm so envious of the students who get to go to the new school. I think having all the St Andrew's schools in one area is COOL. I just love the feeling of togetherness. And don't forget the swimming pool!! I should have been born 2 years later. Oh but there is one thing our old pink school has that the new school doesn't: AIR CON! I don't think they had enough money to install air cons in the spanking new classrooms. Hah. Maybe life isn't so unfair after all.

The Lying Bitch in the Wardrobe =)

Okok it's actually The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Watched it today with LiShan and Halimah. Arisya is in Sydney, the lucky thing. Everyone should go watch Narnia, it's one of the best movies I've seen this year. Also cos of Aslan and Peter =) they rock.

Thought the intro was a tad too long. We get it, there's a war going on. Move on already! Lucy is SO adorable! And the Beavers are quite funny. Tilda Swinton is freakin intimidating as the White Witch. I forgot what actually happens to her in the end; all I know is she didn't die. Aslan is so cool. I'm in love with his voice. Haha. I just find it very reassuring, like everything will be alright as long as he's around.

The special effects are really really good though at some parts it's too CGI for me. That can't be helped however. The movie's got a lot of humour which is very enjoyable. Some scenes are quite Lord of the Rings-y like the battle sequence which I wish was longer! See lah, spend too much time dropping bombs in the intro. tsktsk. Weta Workshop, who did the LOTR costumes and stuff, also did Narnia , which explains the LOTR similarity. Narnia has a larger variety of creatures so more work for them. Fun Fact: CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien were friends. Betcha didn't know that.

Overall the movie's great. Go watch it!

EDIT: Roch insists that White Witch died but I really think she didn't! Someone help!

EDIT EDIT: Erm I think I was wrong. She did die in the 2nd book. Sorry Rowshelles!

My One and Only Xmas Par-tay

Got back from Shaun's around 1pm today. Overnighted there. Strangely enough I wasn't tired at all by the time 3am rolled in. Instead I went to play Twister while some of them slept and after that I went cycling with Shaun and his cousin. Going down the slopes was SO fun since there were virtually zero cars. Wheee! By the time we came up there was no more space for us to sleep. OK fine there was, but it would be kind of squashy. Opted to sleep in the computer room instead. Sherman's friend was freezing on the floor, poor thing. Didn't sleep well partly cos it was kinda cold. But went home to have a good sleep so everything's cool.

Earlier in the evening: reached the house around 6 only to find Jasmine leaving! Tried to stop her but she said she had to go meet her parents for dinner. The girl left even before the party officially started! Shaun actually ran out of his house with the cordless phone cos he was talking to me while trying to stop her. So funny =) Madeleine, Angeline, Xiuli, Addi and Christabel were already there when I came. Ate Angeline's brownie and gingerhearts which were really quite tasty even though I don't like gingerbread. Played mahjong with Tommy Surong and Addi while waiting for dinner and the other band-its. I tried Absolut Peach, just a tiny sip. It wasn't bad but I don't like drinking, so now you all know who should be the designated driver to send people home. After I learn that is. Dinner was yummy! Played Cluedo with Yaofeng, ALoo, Enru, Koi and Andre; Liangshi joined us later replacing Enru. Koi was hilarious! He was a newbie so it was really amusing to see him asking questions and fervently taking notes. I've played the game before but I'm awfully bad at it. Counted down to Christmas and took a group photo. Must go and get it from Shaun. Played Disney monopoly with Xiuli, Shaun and Zuan because Shaun couldn't find the Risk board. He found everything else but the board. Shaun won and Xiuli went bankrupt after paying me $1000. Sorry dear but I guess you were pretty glad to get out of the game since we sorta coerced (sounds nicer than "forced") you into playing. Some guy, I forget his name but I think he's Sherman's friend, came straight to the house from the airport. Damn cool.

Decided to finally get of bed around 12 and left the house a while after that. Gave wrong directions to the remaining bandies *looks guilty* SORRY. Brain was fuzzy due to lack of sleep. I tried calling Amy to tell them I sent them the wrong way but I got another Amy. I think it was the Amy from percussion who quit band long time ago. So weird.

Reached home, bathed and slept again. Sleeping's my ultimate hobby during the hols.Hope they liked the Famous Amos cookies I gave them. Yes yes I know it's unoriginal but I couldn't think what to give a family with 3 guys!

*****

I can't believe I was so excited for Christmas when I only attended ONE party. Actually I thought I had many events going on that week but some got cancelled. Oh wells...

*****

Thanks to Timo, Kok Hoe, Surong, Sean, Huishan and Dorcas for the Christmas greetings. Esp to Dorcas for stimulating me intellectually with your puzzle! No wonder the card was so small =)

Saints Alumni - the beautiful disaster

I went for alumni band prac today. I was really intimidated at first and hesitant about going but I like playing. Solution: drag Jasmine along to keep me company. I love you! The poor girl just came back from Thailand 2 hours before prac started. Thought we were supposed to reach by 6 though I knew practice only starts at 7. I was fretting in the cab cos at 6.15pm we were still on our way there. Lo and behold, what do we see when we come up to the band room? Like 10 pairs of shoes! I thought we were going to be freaking late. When we didn't hear anything coming up the stairs we thought everyone was already in the band room. But that, people, was not the case cos nearly everyone else came later than us. We saw Meisi! It was so great to see a familiar face. Good thing we found her cos Jas and I would have been totally lost if not for her help. Played Welcome, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, A Holiday Party (or was it A Holiday Celebration?), Folkdance for Band and one other piece I think. Can't remember the title. I don't want to go into the morbid details of practice but in short, I was terrible. I couldn't even reach the high notes properly and my tone sucked big time. New Year Resolution #2: Always play with not-so-old reeds. Plus I was sightreading the pieces and my rhythm was totally off, both of which are the icing on a crappy cake. Argh. New Year Resolution #3: Aim to improve at least a little bit. MUST PRACTISE.

I still gotta study for my driving tests. I intended to concentrate fully on driving so I didn't have to take so many lessons and waste more money but that was before I knew about alumni. Oh next alumni prac is in the afternoon!! And my trial test is on the same day. Guess I have to postpone the test since there are only 2 more pracs to go before alumni performs on 7th Jan. Band will have to come first.

This is such a whiny entry. Just frustrated for not playing better I guess. Hopefully I improve before long. But all is not lost. Despite all my whining I did enjoy practice cos it's more relaxed and fun. Now I know why people always use the word 'fun' to describe alumni. Cos it is.

Though I do wonder if this time I'm in over my head. I don't know if I can do this all over again, the practising, the frustration, the rollercoaster ride of emotions and everything else that comes with it. It's a package deal you see.

Rochelle if you read this come next week!

I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held on to
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you

Jingle bells, Batman smells...[you know the rest]

Christmas is coming! *looks all excited* Not that I celebrate it or anything. The Christmas spirit is inescapable though. From the lights on Orchard Road, to TV programmes, to people asking for your address so they can send cards the old-fashioned way =) 2 people have asked for my address so far. Makes me feel rather guilty for not sending anything but it's too late now. I'd probably have to start writing in like October if I wanted to send cards to all my friends. You see I tend to want to write long meaningful messages so I need time to think. If I rush it, the first few people will have super long messages and towards the end, I lose steam and the messages become not so meaningful any more. Oh well there are still many many more Christmases to go. Unless of course, Mother Nature PMS-es again and decides to encase the world in another Ice Age sometime next year. New Year Resolution #1: Send people Xmas cards next year. I can't wait for the weekend to get here. There are so many TV programmes to watch! And Shaun's party tomorrow. I still haven't got him anything! HELP.

Went out with Li Shan to TK to apply for a relief teaching job. It's changed a bit. The building looks paler, like the colour's fading. The General Office is under renovation. I got such a shock when I went there with Hali and I couldn't really see the wall cos it was being blocked. Other than that it looked the same. Then again, I didn't wander around the school so maybe something else is different. I MISS TK. Then went to Parkway to get my long overdue Mango top only to find out that it doesn't really look good on me. It's too low and I don't feel very comfortable in it. So I got this really wide shouldered top which I think is more wearable. Though if I lean forward you can see like everything. Guess I won't be wearing that for Shaun's party. We walked around for a while to look at the new shops. There's Topshop and m)phosis and Dorothy Perkins and some fish store...so many shops! Looks like I don't have to go to Orchard to get nice stuff anymore =) Guess what? I saw The Emperor's New Groove 2: Kronk's New Groove. Haha. It's about how Kronk sets up his own restaurant and so on. I can't remember what's the rest. Kronk was fun, he was such a lovable dumbass. I prefer Yzma though and David Spade was simply fantastic as Kuzco. Thanks Arisya for telling me about the movie =)

Battle of the Reality TV Stars

Danni won Survivor! I am content. Stephenie didn't win. Wahaha. Oh yea oh yea *does the happy dance* I just don't like the girl. She was one of my favourites at the beginning of Survivor: Palau though. She was like an inspiration to womenkind, showing that girls can do everything, well nearly everything, men can. In Guatemala she didn't even play the game very well. She only got to the final 2 cos more people hated her than Rafe. But why was Rafe stupid enough to release Danni from her promise?! I tell you, men are manufactured in the stupid factory. 'Nuff said.
It was good to see the former castaways in the reunion show. Especially Brian, Jamie and Gary =) I don't know why but I liked Brian a lot. He's really witty but looks kinda nerdy. But what the hell, he's a freaking IVY LEAGUE GRAD! I can’t believe that last time I thought the Ivy League was some sports team.Oops. Anyhoo I can't wait for the next Survivor! Panama: Exile Island. Looks like they're running out of locations. They should try to shoot one in a cold country. I think the competitors will look fat and cute running around in their cold wear.

*****

Linzes won Amazing Race. I wanted the Weavers to win though cos I felt a bit sorry for them, seeing as how their dad died so they could probably use the money (plus I like Rolly). The Linzes are alright (Tommy is cute!) but I liked the Weavers from the beginning so was rooting for them more. I think I prefer the 2 person teams compared to families. Families don't get enough screen time and they travel less. A LOT less. One of the highlights of TAR is that you get to experience the different cultures and traditions but the family edition was filmed mostly in USA so got a bit boring. Like everyone they encountered could speak English! Not much challenge.

The teams this time round weren't too interesting so I thought I'd mention some TAR-worthy teams:
Rob and Brennan - They won the first Amazing Race and they're the original Race cuties.
The Guidos aka The Villains - They were 24 hours behind everyone and didn't even make it to the Finish Line I think.
Frank and Margarita - Got lost in their home borough of Queens. Their strategy: Take all the bridges and avoid traffic lights. Rob and Brennan's: Told their cab driver to go as fast as he could.
Kevin and Drew - I just like them a lot.
Danny and Oswald - They were really funny.
Blake and Paige - My favourite team to win that season and I find Paige cute. Don't ask why.
Derek and Drew - Very hot twins.
Flo and Zach - Flo's constant whining made for good TV. Zach really has the patience of a saint to be able to tolerate her nonsense.
Ken and Gerard - Simply because.
Reichen and Chip - They won and Reichen's cute.
Colin and Christie - I liked them and Colin played smart throughout the race except at the end.
Charla and Mirna - Charla was the smallest person in the Race to date and probably one of the strongest. I didn't like them though.
Jonathan and Victoria - I have never seen more abuse on reality TV.
Kris and Jon - My favourite team! Unfortunately they came in 2nd.
Rob and Amber - The Survivors. I really thought they would win cos Rob's a smart player like Colin but they didn't!! I'll never forget how he managed to convince people to give up on that disgusting Road Block just cos he couldn't do it himself.
And finally, Lynn and Alex - "We -huff- must -huff- beat -huff- the -huff- Survivors!" said Alex while rowing a raft and trying to pass Rob and Amber, which I think they did.

I love them all. TAR should have an All-Stars Race, like Survivor. That'd be fun.

Battle of the Network Reality TV Shows is tomorrow. Can't wait. I hope Omarosa from The Apprentice is competing. She was so delightfully bitchy in Fear Factor and The Apprentice =)

I bet after this entry all the Stephenie fanatics will come after me with pitchforks.

Bring it on.

EDIT: Battle of the Network Reality Stars is tomorrow (23/12) not last week.

I have a new blog!

Hah. No more Friendster blog. Yay! Aren't you all glad? You won't be getting any more irritating emails saying I've updated my blog. I totally forgot about that when I created the Friendster one. I didn't like the stupid emailing system hence the new blog. And no I didn't make a typo with the domain name (is that what it's called?).

*****

All my favourite shows are ending! Survivor and Amazing Race finales are next week! Damn. I hope either Rafe or Danni win Survivor and the Linzes or the Weavers win TAR. Go go go!

I'm so ashamed to say this but...I went clubbing for the first time on Monday. There, I said it. Go ahead, laugh. It's not my fault band ended at 5pm on my birthday so I was too tired to go clubbing. And by the time I wanted to go to Boom Boom Room, it closed down! Argh. So anyway we, by we I mean my classmates and I, went to Indochine for what I thought was an SA party. Then Lishan calls me and I realise TJ people are also invited. Not that I wasn't happy to see her, on the contrary in fact. I didn't drink much, just about a quarter of the housepour. It tasted so yucky. Danced the rest of the time and reached home around 3.30am. Oh there was someone who was actually smoking on the dancefloor! Idiot. Tim Wong was there; I'm wondering how in the world he got in. It was good to see someone I knew though, since there were so many unrecognisable faces in the crowd. So that was my clubbing experience, it wasn't anything great but clubbing occasionally could be fun if it's with the right crowd.

Just got back yesterday from Tanjung Pinang. Bought some stuff, nothing much since I was there mainly to visit my dad and eat the yummy food. The food is sooo nice...I miss it already. But I'm happy to be back cos I miss my TELLY. Btw I highlighted my hair. It's a kinda lightish goldeny colour? I swear this wasn't the colour I chose but it turned out like that. I think I look ok.

*****

I realise my blog looks sort of, okay not sort of VERY, pathetic. But wait and see, it'll look just kinda pathetic soon. I better go find some people to link.

P.S. I hope Arisya can do the html crap soon and improve on the layout.
