Backstreet Hoe Down

Them Backstreet Boys, I think they really stink
It isn't anything personal, they're just not 'NSync
This might be kinda weird, it could be a shock
But I still got a poster of the New Kids on the Block. - Chip

Well I hate radio today
They don't have anything good to play
All they play is junk, they are in a rut
I wish they'd take the Backstreet Boys and shove 'em up their butt. - Drew

I hate the Backstreet Boys, they bug me like no one else can
So I came up with a really cunning plan
I kidnap them and then I show them oh how to hurt
I made them all wear a copy of my shirt. - Colin (wearing lurid orange shirt)

A lot of people think they're the best ones in the land
But the Backstreet Boys aren't my kind of band
Many people think that they are heaven-sent
But you're not a band unless you play an instrument. - Ryan

We turned Li Shan into a groupie! We're so proud of ourselves :):):) On Tuesday she didn't even know who was who and then by Wednesday she knew maybe 3 out of 5. Not bad... Unlike dear Jasmine. The girl got all excited at seeing them on Tuesday that she forgot all their names and took many nice pictures of KEVIN. The photos of Brian and AJ were quite blur and no photos of Nick at all! After all that memorising of faces *sigh*

Anyhoo the allocation of the Boys are as follows:
AJ - Arisya
Brian - Halimah
Nick - Me of course
Kevin - Li Shan (she took a really good picture of Kevin cos she was RIGHT BESIDE him! Why couldn't she like Nick?)
Howie - Er the only person I can think of is Lydia. Howie is much cuter now anyway, after he cut his hair.

Still rocking on the BSB high

After waiting a decade for the Backstreet Boys to perform in Singapore, I finally saw them LIVE on Tuesday 24th Jan 2006. I can tell this is going to be one of the highlights of the year. They are totally awesome live performers but this wasn't their best concert. what makes you different makes you beautiful. I think the biggest shocker was that they started only a little late. Halimah and I nearly missed their entry cos we wanted to go see the merchandise.

They sang, they danced and basically made most of my Backstreet dreams come true. I say 'most' cos we made this humongous lightstick sign saying "Wave if u see us" and they didn't! But I'm going to pretend Nick waved anyway =) I was so happy when they sang their old songs!! as long as you love me. Their previous singles are the ones that broke them into the music industry and established them as arguably the biggest boyband in the world. Btw their latest album is quite good. how did i fall in love with you?

In short the concert was just incredible. Nick is soooo talented! Not that the others aren't, it's just that I love him =) He plays guitar and drums AND he can hit the high notes *swoons* this power is greater than the forces of nature. There were some low points though. Firstly the turnout was terrible. There were empty seats! Wth. Imagine a Backstreet concert not being sold out. I guess their so-called ardent fans think they're too old for BSB now. Felt very bad for the boys. Secondly after the concert I didn't feel anything. quit playing games with my heart. I felt indifferent. Like I just went to watch a normal performance. I didn't feel like I caught one of my favourite bands in the whole universe. The whole thing felt like a dream or like I just watched the concert on TV. Probably hadn't sunk in yet. I don't really want to entertain the thought that I don't like them any more; it's just too traitorous. i'll never break your heart. Bought a tee for $35! That's daylight robbery but I don't care, it was worth it since they probably won't come for another 10 years.

Obviously I thought the concert was way too short and it went by too fast. I also wish they had interacted more with the audience. But no matter it was, to put it simply, great.

Went to see them off today. Waited about 2 hours for them at the Departure doors with Arisya and Li Shan. I finally saw Nick up close! I wanted to shout "I love you Nick" but I was er too embarrassed. I only hope I can remember what he looks like cos I didn't get a good picture and neither did the other 2. Why must he turn to the side just as I'm about to click?! I'm praying Lauretta Alabans sends us the pictures. no matter how i fight it, can't deny it, just can't let you go. Fun Fact: Brian and Howie are short. Nick and Kevin are about as tall as I expected. Nick looked so red, especially in the neck area. Must be the lovely Singapore weather.

I can't believe they left already. show me the meaning of being lonely. It's finally sunk in that they were here, I watched them perform and now they're gone. The Brisbane concert is going to be on Nick's birthday, lucky Aussies. I hope I never forget these 3 days of my existence. and the world is so beautiful tonight.

They are truly larger than life.

Everybody, Backstreet's back!

I'm so happy and sad at the same time. Happy that they're finally here and I got to see them at the airport but so very sad that I didn't get to see Nick! For some unfathomable reason I simply did not see him. Extremely depressed now. Haiya. I saw Brian, Kevin and AJ at least. But I want to see my Nick!! After the airport I met Arisya and Halimah to buy stuff for the sign and then we went to Carlton Hotel where they're supposedly staying. We waited until about 11pm but no sign of them. One of the hotel staff told us they were not staying at Carlton but at Hyatt! What the hell. We did hear some rumours about how there was an autograph signing session at Hyatt but we thought they'd come to Carlton soon so we decided to wait. And that, kids, was our fatal mistake. We never saw them and eventually went home.

It seems unbelievable they're here. They're FINALLY here after about 10 years. So surreal...

Can't wait for the concert!

Oh yes. Thanks to Jasmine for following me today and waiting like 5 hours for them to appear =)

Down memory lane...tralala

Do you remember the times we spent Down Under? The time we spent talking late into the night, the fun we had during performances and sightseeing? I would give anything to relive it, even go through the pre-As period again if it meant going back to Brisbane. My wonderful roomies plus Rochelle (who had an entire bathroom to herself while Shan, Val, Jas and I had to share ONE), the entire clarinet section and the rest of the band-its: you are the ones who made the trip so memorable. Of course the fact that this is my first school trip overseas helped too =) I only wish the rest of the J2s were there. It would have been SO much more fun.

I MISS BRISBANE.

but I will never ever EVER miss the ibis. They are God damn big and scary lah. And they steal my food! "Please do not feed the ibis" - pah. They sustain themselves by pilfering our food! I am psychologically scarred by them. I demand compensation!

i drove a freaking car!

I drove a CAR! Yes people a CAR! Granted it was just round and round and round and round the circuit but whatever, I made the car move! Now let's just hope I don't forget everything I learnt.

Freedom of expression...
One sound we make, one beat we create
We create music.
The chemistry we have
The bond we share
The SAJC concert band.

- i just love it.

Only 4 more days to the concert!! I can't wait!

2A.2001

Had a 2A bbq on the 4th at East Coast. When LiShan, Hali, Nazri and I got there it wasn't raining. Yet. Katek and Boon came along a while later. It was raining on and off...SO frustrating! We were the most pathetic souls there; the 6 of us huddled under umbrellas waiting for the rain to stop. What made it even worse was that we were the only ones bbq-ing along that entire stretch! Anyway the rain stopped after a while so the guys started the fire. It was really great to see everyone again since I didn't see them at all in 2005 and I'm used to meeting them at least once, if not twice, a year for chalets and bbqs. There was so much food, the usual chicken (marinated by LiShan with her teriyaki sauce), otah which didn't finish! (I shouldn't have ordered so much), crabsticks, hotdogs, the crispy lemon chicken which was sooo good, satay with globs of fat dripping from the packaging and bee hoon for the first time since our first chalet when more than half the bee hoon was left. I think this was the first time most of our food wasn't forced down the guys' throats =) Then everyone relived old times, like when we won the soccer tournament in sec1 and sec2. Us girls realised we didn't have many memories which was pretty sad except for the time when we all stayed back after school to do up the noticeboard for the noticeboard competition. We won, by the way, with only 10 girls. FYI, my class had 31 guys =)

I think this will be the last gathering for a while cos most of the guys will be in NS soon. Or actually some of them already are. Call us when you book out k. Maybe we'll go for a night cycling trip.

Oh and thanks for the times we spent together.

*****

Some 2A records were set on 04/01/06:
1. Nearly all the food was finished.
2. No one played any card games. This one was a real shocker.
3. Mun Chol Jun wasn't there. Ok fine Xiaowen didn't come either but at least she's not in a communist country and totally cut off from society!
4. MeiJuan cooked for us. We're very proud of you =)
5. All of us left before 11pm!

I would post photos except for the fact that I can't seem to. Hopefully when I'm more awake tomorrow I'll try again.
