Euphoria

I PASSED! My driving test, that is. I'm so relieved I don't have to go back to Ubi any more for lessons, esp since school's starting soon and the driving centre's not exactly near NUS. Next stop is to persuade Papa to get me a car, which I think he will since he'll use me to run his endless stream of errands for him. Then again, getting a car and getting a car SOON are 2 completely different things. I rather get my laptop now and other necessary things than the car. I'm guessing I'll still be taking public transport a year from now but I don't really mind since I'll be living in hall for half the year.

Watched The Lake House yesterday with the NUS OG mates. Nice story, very sweet to watch Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock on the big screen again. I loved them in Speed so it's good to see them together for another movie. The whole writing-to-each-other-with-2-years-between-them thing is a little confusing at times and there are some fallacies here and there but no matter, I still liked it. And I only paid 3 bucks for my ticket, thanks to Keefe's dad. After the movie I asked Arisya very nicely if I could come over to watch Lost cos I couldn't get home in time =)

Argh. I've been meaning to write up about Medicamp but I'm just too lazy. Been busy with float building and driving lessons but I'll do it soon. I promise-a-domise-a-vow.

I'm out! Gotta practise for band concert.

Well, Italy have won the World Cup. They deserved it, I think. They played very well and although I wanted France to win, I'm okay with Italy bringing home that SOLID GOLD trophy. They get to keep it for 4 years until the next World Cup and then they get a gold-plated replica. Interesting huh? If you already knew that then you're very knowledgeable. Hurrah for you.

As a result of the late nights and lack of sleep, I got a sore throat and fever. Fever's gone now but sore throat is still bugging me. So everyone, Vitamin C is your best friend in these trying times.

Oooh, Pirates of the Carribean is opening on Thursday! It looks fantabulous! I can't wait!

I did it again.

England's out. Brazil's out. And France and Italy are in the finals.

Not so surprising for England since Beckham got injured and Rooney was sent off. But Brazil out in the quarter finals? That was a shock to me cos I'd conveniently forgotten that France won in '98. At that time I had no enthusiasm for football whatsoever and in 2002 when I had an inkling of interest, France didn't even make it to top 16, so I'd assumed they weren't too good.

Oh. Beckham has quit as England's captain. I guess it's the right decision after leading England for 5 years, though I wish he did it in happier times i.e. when England are in the finals or win the Cup.

Why didn't Rooney keep his temper in check? WHY? Actually I blame Cristiano Ronaldo for being such a big kaypoh and trying to interfere with the referee's decision. Rooney might not have gotten the red card otherwise, but it's a BIG might. Rooney is supposed to be England's most lethal player and in a second of anger, he's gone. How can England win like that?! Through a penalty shootout? I think not, since the commentator mentioned that England have lost every penalty shootout in the World Cup except one (correct me if I'm wrong cos I don't really remember). True enough they lost this one too. Good thing France beat Portugal in the semis and Germany won them to get the bronze. That'll show Ronaldo.

Now if you're reading the tirade above and thinking that I'm one of those girls who pretends to know football but actually doesn't, I'd just like to clarify that I don't know the intricacies but I know enough to scrape by.

Okay enough of the beautiful game and on to my 1-day nursing attachment to KK Women's and Children's Hospital on Friday. It really opened my eyes to what nurses actually do and the toughness of the job. I think a lot of nurses have the knowledge of doctors but are so underappreciated just because many think all they do are the unimportant, menial tasks. Those 6 hours I spent at the hospital weren't enough to see everything but I did get a glimpse. And...I think I've chosen the right career. Of course, I haven't seen all the gruesome stuff yet but it'll come and I hope I'm prepared for it.

Something else I read over the week: the WB are folding up. The network that brought me some of my favourite shows in the world like 7th Heaven, Buffy and Angel is merging with UPN to form CW. I don't know what CW stands for cos the article didn't say.

Well that's all folks!

If I could, then I would, I'd go wherever you will go
