Judge Jillian: You are hereby sentenced to a make-up posting during your (precious, need-to-catch-up-on-sleep) Recess Week.

Defendant: *grumbles to self* so not fair. School was supposed to start on 12th January what...

So I've finally finished my 5-day sentence.

The crime: not returning on time from holiday.

Yes, because I planned to return on 7th Jan from NYC, I missed my Obstetrics posting and had to make it up during Recess Week. Thus now I'm really tired and don't really have a chance to rest properly before I'm back to school. Doesn't help that I had to keep returning to hall, which is one hour away by bus, for something or another.

Sigh, such is life. If I get through this sem with an increased CAP, it'll be a miracle.

i love this record baby, but i can't see straight anymore

Well, at least now I can firmly say I don't like pub crawls.

The Boogie Bus (or Boogie Bust/Boobie Bus/Booger Bus, take your pick) Pub Crawl was...interesting. But since I don't drink much (I had just one vodka-7-up and a tequila shot), I didn't find it very fun. The only saving graces: the view of the city from the Marina Barrage, the hot angmoh guys and having supper at Boon Tong Kee.

Even getting entry into the supposedly-very-exclusive Mimolette near the Old Turf Club didn't do anything for me. The dance floor had no air-conditioning so everyone was hot and sticky and the coupons for the one-for-one drinks had apparently run out.

Okay so I Googled Mimolette and apparently it's more of a restaurant than a club and now that I think about it, a bell rings somewhere in the recesses of my head. I Google some more and yes of course, I've read about it in the Sunday Times.

So since I've digressed to food, Boon Tong Kee's chicken rice is so good! The chicken melts in your mouth and the rice is very fragrant. Yum, yum! At any rate, no matter how the rest of the night was, I went home full and satisfied.

live every second like it was my last one

Today was just one of those days where I actually enjoyed my lessons.

My first knowledge-drilling session was learning about substance and behavioural addictions. The lecturer was entertaining and intelligent as well as humorous and full of funny anecdotes about his patients. We learnt how to "chase the dragon" as they say in druggie-speak, why people drink up to 11 (!) bottles of cough syrup and even why some are addicted to sex.

Had a 3 hour break which was somewhat unproductive then attended my skills lesson where I gave my muscles a good stretch.

Well, we were actually supposed to be learning how to teach patients to destress by using breathing techniques, passive-aggressive relaxation and stretching. It was quite fun and I heard some people even fell asleep. Unfortunately, I didn't.

My teacher also related to us a rather creative way to commit suicide. Apparently a nurse in her home country injected potassium chloride into her vein. One heart attack later, she was dead.

Amazing what kids learn in school nowadays.
