Weep not for the memories
Long overdue post, dated 10 August:
We lost badly to none other than our dearest neighbours, Kent Ridge. I must admit that after looking at their float, my conviction in ours lessened but I still believed that we could clinch the award for Best Float Presentation. I mean we had a LIVE BAND playing from inside the float! How much more original can you get? We didn't even win Most Creative, Temasek Hall won that. I didn't think they deserved it cos with the F1 coming up, it's not a very out-of-the-box idea is it?
I guess what irked me the most was that our originality and creativity weren't recognised AT ALL. The raggers worked so hard to make the live band idea feasible and...nothing. I wonder if the judges even knew the music was live and not recorded.
I'm glad I was able to help out in whatever little way I could. I'm happy to sacrifice that one week and my sleep to be there for my friends when they needed all the assistance they could get. Cos that's what motivates people to come down for Rag isn't it? Loyalty to your friends. Sandra once told me "Raggers rag for the people." I found it hard to believe her at that time but after 2 rags I definitely do.
Every now and then, we find a special friend,
who never lets us down.
Who understands it all, reaches out each time we fall,
you're the best friend that I've found.
I know you can't stay,
a part of you will never ever go away,
your heart will stay.
